THE WALL OF QUOTES
When my daughter was 14, she got a magic marker and started to scrawl her favorite quotes all over the walls of her room. Some were from Shakespeare, some were from cartoons, some were from movies. Now my room has a wall of quotes also, written in chalk on old slate blackboards mounted to the wall. I can change them every week. Today, they read: "I sell the shadow to support the substance", "They can't make me and they can't break me", and "Self discipline is not about denial, it is about purpose". The first quote is by Sojourner Truth, the next two are by me.
But I have a new favorite quote and it is this:
"To live in so much mystery, to rely on a feeling, an instinct, on faith, that everything I need is already inside me, and best I just don't block the exit."
That remarkable quote is by Michelle Williams, actress.

My favorite was one of yours...about self-discipline being of purpose--love that!!
I so loved your quotes, I am so on the same page , especially the last one. Miss you Linda Marcov
Another quote collector/writer! Of course, you have yours written in an elegant hand on blackboards hung cleverly on your walls while mine are scribbled on Post-Its and stuck higgley piggely all over the shelf edge above my computer (where they often rain down on the keyboard at inopportune monents). But we do share the quote collecting.
I am partial to Eleanore Roossevelt's "Women are like teabags. We don't know our true strength until we are in hot water!"
Um...that should be ROOSEVELT. I have fat fingers, too, that do not type very well.....
That is an interesting quote to come from such a young actress. Thank you for sharing.
OOOO I just love that picuture!!!
I did that with gold spray paint on my walls once. But that was back in the day .....and I regretted it when I had to move!
Your way is sooooooo much more elegant!
Hello from Canada! What a wonderful daily gesture. Just the act of writing the words imprints positivity!
My daughters use to draw on the walls behind the doors so I wouldn't see them. Even though they are grown some sketches still remain. They are my favorite pieces of wall art. When they were older I let each of them pick out a favorite quote and we painted them on the walls on their rooms. Looks like you're getting the hang of blogging. Yay for us!
Hi WEndy,
Love all the quotes what a very neat idea(the blackboard) your blog is really coming along.

Congratulations on your recent article in Somerset magazine! I was delighted to see your fantastic drawings and brush work again, since I still remember my sneak peeks so vividly from my quick visit with you in August. As you said, your art has had its way in taking over your life, so I hope life is good at your Theatre of Dreams :). When you release all of that goodness in book form, I will be among the happy "friends of the artist" who will thoroughly appreciate the effort.
Meanwhile, may the fun and mystery of Halloween still radiate from your shop and inspire more quothing on the black boards!
What a wonderful idea of writing favorite quotes to see for a while. And, I see why you've chosen the one by Ms. Williams. Something for the artist in all of us! Look forward to more of your posts, and your next opening...Iva
